The Downtown Fairbanks Walking Tour

Second Avenue Homes

On Second Avenue there are many log cabins on both sides of the street, along with architecture from later periods in Fairbanks' building history. Extensions have been added to the left and right, in front and back, and even on top of the original structures.

Pictured are 827 and 828 2nd Avenue. They were built in 1909 and 1910 respectively. Clara Rust and her mother-in-law, Mrs. Madole moved into the Cabin on top after the pipes in the bathhouse burst in 1910.
